DOCUMENTARY | HP
Spanish Chapel is a short documentary film created for HP, telling the story of a small chapel in the Spanish Pyrenees that lost its original fresco when it was removed for preservation – leaving the space devoid of it’s centre-piece. I directed the film, working with DoP Charlie Herranz to create the perfect aesthetic for the story.
The brief was to subtly underscore how detailed and accurate HP’s printing can be, but to wrap that messaging in a compelling documentary story. The project was a chance to use commercial documentary techniques to elevate the content, blending craft, story and a strong sense of character.
Key Challenges – Conducting interviews in another language can be challenging, but I have shot so many interviews that you start to get a sense of what a good answer sounds like – even if you don’t fully understand the language. You can still sense the level of confidence, the rhythm and the emotion.
